Digital Version of Canadian Donor’s Guide Now Online
(Oct. 1, 2007) A digital version of the 2007 Canadian Donor’s Guide (Guide des Donateurs Canadiens), which contains a listing of 3,500 registered charities in Canada, has been released and is available online at no charge.
The listings contain relevant and concise information to help donors and their advisers make informed decisions regarding charitable donations. Users of the Canadian Donor’s Guide can search for charities by activity and by geographic location, as well as alphabetically. The guide also features some editorial information about planned giving, community foundations and tax considerations involved in giving.
The digital version of the Canadian Donor’s Guide is identical to the print version released in June, and viewers will see the exact same pages on their computer screens as they would with a printed copy. However, users of the digital version can quickly click through highlighted website and email addresses to obtain more information about organizations. In addition, there is a keyword search function that brings users to pages that contain the keyword, with the keyword highlighted in green.
The guide is published by Anderson Charters and is distributed through a number of organizations, including AFP, the Canadian Bar Association, la Chambre des notaires du Québec, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Society of Trust and Estate Professionals, Imagine Canada, the Canadian Association of Gift Planners, Estate Planning Councils across Canada and Scotia Private Client Group, which sponsors the guide.
The guide is paid for through display advertising and paid listings from charities. Charitable organizations and others are welcome to add a link to the digital version from their websites.
